Point of the Day Lung 5
Lung 5
Chinese Name: Chize
English Name: Cubit Marsh
Location on the Body: Crease of the elbow
Why I would use this point: I use Lu 5 all the time! With Liver 4, Lung 5, both on the left side of the body, disperses Oketsu, which is Stagnation of Blood in the abdomen. Oketsu is one of the most common patterns that I see and its treatment helps the entire body to function better. According to 5 Phase theory, Lu 5 is the Water point on the Metal channel, and is also very helpful in tonifying and strengthening the Kidney. I use Lu 5 regularly to treat such problems as GYN pathology, headache, dizziness, mental and emotional imbalances, as well as back pain, knee pain, and fatigue.
Licensed Acupuncturists must know the location, application, and indication of hundreds of acupuncture points across the entire body. I spent over 3,300 hours at the New England School of Acupuncture studying this material and its clinical effects. In Point of the Day, I will introduce you to an acupuncture point I may use in my clinical practice.
