Biography

After receiving a BA in Philosophy from Boston College, Scott began training in East Asian Medicine and Healing Arts, focusing on both Chinese and Japanese traditions. Initiating his study with Asian Bodywork Therapy, Scott received a diploma in Zen Shiatsu and Sôtai from the Boston Institute of Shiatsu and Complementary Therapy, where he also studied Thai Massage.

Scott then went on to earn a Master of Acupuncture degree from the New England School of Acupuncture, as well as Diplomat status in Acupuncture from the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. During this time, Scott received extensive training in Chinese Acupuncture, Auricular and Scalp Microsystems, and holistic nutrition. He specialized in Japanese Acupuncture, focusing on Meridian 5 Phase, Extraordinary Vessel and Extra Channel Polarizations, Channel Divergences, and Muscle-Tendon Meridian Treatments.

While at the New England School of Acupuncture, Scott began an intensive 3 year apprenticeship with David Euler, international lecturer and teacher, as well as Co-director and Co-founder of the Structural Acupuncture for Physicians Course at Harvard Medical School. Scott’s work with David provided direct and extensive clinical and theoretical training and expertise in the Kiiko Matsumoto style of acupuncture. Throughout his 3 years of study with David, Scott was a Teaching Assistant and staff member of Harvard’s Structural Acupuncture Course.

Underling all this, Scott has been studying and training in the Eastern Breath and Movement Arts of Yang style Tai Chi, Qi Gong, Iyengar influenced yoga, and meditation, under the instruction of Ramel Rones. Ramel, or Rami as he is known to his students, is a direct disciple of Qi Gong and martial arts master, Dr. Yang Jwing-Ming, as well as having studied extensively with Patricia Walden, senior Iyengar Yoga instructor. Additionally, Rami has included Scott in his work with cancer patients and the terminally ill.

Scott recently completed a Certificate of Advanced Study in Pain Topics with a Policy Specialization form Tufts University School of Medicine. The program focused on the examination and understanding of the complex issues and unique challenges associated with both chronic and acute pain conditions.

Currently, Scott is in private practice at Beacon Street Acupuncture in Brookline, MA. He is also working with the Japanese Acupuncture Department at the New England School of Acupuncture.
